Academy Organised a “Two
Day” Open Rapid Chess Tournament on 5th and 6th November 2011
for category U.7, U.9 , U.11, U.13, U.17
both Boys and Girls in our school premises. (Smt.Durgadevi Choudhary
Vivekananda Vidyalaya)
This
academy was initiated by Shri. Jaigopal
Garodia, founder and Chairman, JGVV
Trust. The 2 day tournament was organized with the main objective to popularize
the game and to expose the young champions to the state and national
levels. This was a wonderful
opportunity for the chess aspirants from all over the state to participate and
get a wide exposure.
Attractive
cups and certificates were awarded for the first eight places. The top three
also received cash awards.

The Inauguration of the tournament
was held on 5th Saturday at 9.30 a.m. It was inaugurated by Principal Shri.J.Thanukrishnan . The Valedictory function was held on 6th Sunday at 3.30 p.m. Shri.C.G.S.Narayanan, International Chess
Problemist and Former Captain – Second World Chess Compositions Tournament presided
over the function. About 560 contestants
under category U.7 , U.9 , U.11, U.13 and U.17 took part in the tournament. The
welcome address was rendered by the Principal
Shri.J.Thanukrishnan, M.Sc.Ed.,D.C.O.,M.Phil.,DSM.,
The guest Shri.C.G.S.Narayanan addressed the
audience and distributed the prizes to the winners. Cash awards were also given
for the first three places of all the categories. The vote of thanks was
proposed by Shri.Gnanaseharan, M.A.,
M.P.,Ed., Physical
Director of the school.
